MOULTRIE – On Friday, Sept. 27, at about 8:41 a.m., the GBI was requested to begin a death investigation regarding a Colquitt County Jail inmate who was found hanging in his cell and died as a result.

The inmate has been identified as Halen Weaver, 37 years old, from Moultrie. Agents are continuing interviews and reviewing evidence associated with this case. An autopsy will be performed at the GBI Crime Lab Tuesday morning in Macon.

This case is active and ongoing and anyone with information on this case is asked to call the GBI Thomasville Office at (229) 225-4090. Once complete, it will be turned over to the Southern Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for review.
