Lady Pack downs Thomasville in scrimmage 48-26

MOULTRIE, Ga. — The Lady Packers basketball team beat the Thomasville Lady Bulldogs 48-26 in a scrimmage game Monday night on the William Bryant Court at Colquitt County High School.

“We’re developing kids to be ready to play by January,” said Coach Rondesha Williams.

“We’re very small, so we’re going to play man-to-man, be disciplined playing man-to-man, run the floor, make lay ups, move the ball around.

“Tonight will give us a chance to look at what we need to work on in-depth and that’s boxing out and weak side help.”

Williams is entering her 15th year as Lady Packer’s head coach. She has a 264-136 record.

The Lady Packers played without returning senior starter Carliss Johnson who missed the game due to the recent death of her mother.

In the fourth quarter, Amareyia Knighton began by sinking a three-point basket to continue the Lady Packers’ lead.

Caylnn Singletary for the Lady Packers put the score up by one with a free throw.

With 4:49 left in the quarter, Lady Packer Nyleghia Knighton drove in for a layup for two points.

Thomasvile responded back with a three-point shot. Lady Packer D’zeriyah Polite answered right back with a two-point shot.

Thomasville was sent to the free throw line and put their score up by one.

Ameris Johnson for the Lady Packers’ responded with two points with 2:55 left to go in the game.

Thomasville put two more on the board.

Lady Packer Jamya Moore sank a three-point shot with 1:10 left to go in the game.

Thomasville’s Kayundria Bush was sent to the free throw line and put up one point but it was too little, too late.

Amareyia Knighton gave the Lady Packers’ the final two with a minute left to go in the game.

Points were quiet for the rest of the game with the buzzer sounding without either offense scoring.

In the third quarter, Amareyia Knighton had six points put on the board all from free throws.

In the second quarter the Lady Packers’ put up 13 points with the Lady Bulldogs only putting up six.

The Lady Packers’ began the game with 14 points in the first quarter.

The first game of the season will be 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at Westover High in Albany.
