MOULTRIE, Ga. — Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office deputies are searching for Alex Rowe, a suspect in a Feb. 15 house fire on Nell Avenue.

According to Investigator Ronald Jordan, at 12:08 a.m. Saturday, deputies responded to the home and were told that Alex Rowe had allegedly poured gasoline on the home and set it on fire. The first deputy on the scene found the owner of the house, Johnny Cox, on the ground outside the house and, with the help of a neighbor, picked him up and moved him to safety.

Cox stated that Rowe had fled the scene with Heather Gay after setting fire to the house. The house was a complete loss, according to Jordan, while Cox sustained injuries from smoke inhalation and has still not been released from the hospital.  Authorities are searching for both Rowe and Gay to speak to them about the fire and encourage citizens who know of their whereabouts to call the office at 229-616-7460.

According to Jordan, Cox and Gay lived at the home together. He said he believes Rowe started the fire after an argument with them there. 

Moultrie Fire Department investigators are also investigating this case.
