MOULTRIE, Ga. — A Facebook post led to the identification and arrest of a suspect in a Christmas Day theft of a trailer.

On Dec. 25, a surveillance camera recorded a white Chevrolet truck pulling up to a 16-foot enclosed car hauling trailer belonging to Hall Contractors LLC, Colquitt County sheriff’s investigators said. A man hooked the trailer to it and drove away.

Through the surveillance footage, the owner of the trailer was able to identify some features of the white Chevrolet truck that would be easily recognizable if someone saw it, investigators said. The owner also used his personal Facebook account for help in locating the vehicle and suspect.

Investigators in Seminole County, Ga, recognized the vehicle as one they recently impounded during an earlier arrest there, the Colquitt County investigators said. Colquitt County law enforcement determined that it was the truck in the video, and they arrested the truck’s owner, Bruce A. Middleton, on charges of felony theft. Middleton is also wanted on theft charges in several other area counties, the Colquitt County investigators said.

Through further information from the owner of the trailer, law enforcement was able to locate it in Florida and return it to him.
