Police were dispatched at about 10 a.m. Monday to Colquitt Regional Medical Center to speak with the shooting victim, Alier Salabarria. Salabarria had been shot in the right arm and was treated at the hospital and released.

Salabarria and Alvarado’s sister have a baby together, Nobles said.

“Alvarado had words with the victim over something he (Salabarria) said to Alvarado’s sister about a month ago,” Nobles said.

Monday’s shooting apparently had some connection to the earlier confrontation, he said.
