Doug Strange promoted to Ameris Bank chief credit officer

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Ameris Bancorp Chief Credit Officer Jon Edwards announces that Doug Strange has been promoted to chief credit officer for Ameris Bank. He will be responsible for the day-to-day functions of ensuring the Ameris Bank’s credit culture is followed in all aspects of the credit life cycle through acquisition, underwriting, approval and monitoring practices.

Strange most recently served as senior credit officer of Ameris Bank where he implemented several enhancements to the credit approval process that resulted in improved oversight and faster service to customers.

“Doug has been an invaluable addition to the bank’s credit team and his many contributions to our group of quality credit officers are highly valued,” Edwards said. “His credit abilities coupled with his sense of urgency for exceptional customer service are noteworthy and he brings a level of creativity that is critical for our institution as we keep growing.”

Strange will work in both the bank’s Moultrie, Ga., and Jacksonville, Fla., offices.

Strange rejoined Ameris Bank in 2018 after serving as chief financial officer of Colquitt Regional Medical Inc. Prior to his work at Colquitt Regional Medical, Strange worked at Ameris Bank for more than ten years in various leadership roles, and prior to Ameris Bank served as senior vice president for Fleet Bank and Bank of America, and as an accountant with KPMG.

Strange, a certified public accountant, received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Georgia. He enjoys spending time with his wife of 21 years, Charlotte, and their three children.
