MOULTRIE, Ga. — This year’s Christmas Love Project was once again a huge success for Moultrie, according to founder George Wallace.

Founded by Wallace and his family in 2011 as a community initiative to spread the love of Christmas, the Christmas Love Project has helped more than 200 families in years past.

This year, the project added 48 more families as well as several patients who were housed at the Colquitt Regional Medical Center for the holidays. Patients on the second, third and fourth floors were preselected by hospital staff and personnel.

The hospital patients were added to the Christmas Love Project two years ago when the family realized that there are some people who may not be less fortunate by the traditional measure, but are unfortunate that they must spend their holidays in the hospital, away from family, festivities, and friends.

Several gifts were donated by various partners within the Colquitt County community. Some donated toys, bicycles, and other miscellaneous items. In addition, monetary donations were also made to Wal-Mart on behalf of the Christmas Love Project.

“The donations collected from citizens of the community played a large role in helping make it possible for the Wallace family to spread Christmas cheer to such a massive number of recipients.” George Wallace wrote in a press release to The Observer. “The Wallaces look forward to the Christmas Love Project continuing to be a blessing to the community in the years to come.”
