The Singing Cookes to headline Williams birthday gospel sing Friday

TIFTON, Ga. — The Singing Cookes of Kingsport, Tenn., will be headlining the 32nd annual Williams Birthday Gospel Sing to be held at The First Assembly Of God, 1800 Central Ave. N. in Tifton.
The sing will be Friday Feb. 1, at 7 p.m. The doors will open at 6 p.m.
Also featured on the program will be Buddy Liles, former bass singer for The Florida Boys Quartet along with singer-songwiter Joyce Croft of Valdosta.
The Singing Cookes have been singing over 56 years and are noted for songs like “I Want Us to Be Together in Heaven,” “He Rolls Me Over the Tide” and “I Hope We Walk The Last Mile Together” and many others. They have had many songs in the top 40 in the Singing News through the years. They are a family group and have fantastic harmony.
Liles has been singing for over 50 years and is a member of The Gospel Music Hall of fame.
Croft and her late husband have written more than 5,000 songs in Southern Gospel Music. Many of the major groups in the gospel music industry have recorded their songs. Songs like “Is that Footsteps That Hear,” “The First Million Years,” ”I Believe When He Died He Died For Me” and” I Can’t Even Walk Without You Holding My Hand.”
This sing is to honor the Rev. Ken Williams and pays tribute to the late Rev. R. V. Williams of Adel, Ga. Rev. R.V. Williams was a pastor in the area for over 50 years. Ken, his son, continues to pay tribute to his fathers memory by having this ole time Gospel Sing every year to remember their birthdays by old time gospel singing.
There is no admission fee to the sing but a love offering will be taken.
