MOULTRIE, Ga. — Sunset Elementary School recently honored the Students of the Month for November. These students were chosen by their teachers as part of the school’s Character Education program led by counselor Patience Hicks.

Each month, a word is chosen as the Character Education Word. The word for November was Citizenship. Colquitt County School System has adopted one important ritual that inspires citizenship that all students perform daily, which is to recite the pledge of allegiance to the flag. In addition, these students have generously contributed to the good of the community by donating food to the food bank, and some of them have participated in community service projects such as picking up litter along Highway 319 with the Mileage Club.

An ice cream party was given on their behalf for exhibiting good citizenship. Each student also received a certificate, pencil, and gift bag that included a special cup with “Sunset Elementary School Student of the Month” inscribed on it.
