MOULTRIE, Ga. — A Colquitt County teen-ager was arrested in connection with a Sunday morning assault in which two men were beaten with a stick at a Bert Horne Avenue residence.

Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched at about 1:32 a.m. to the residence of one of the victims, Telesforo Martinez, at his residence in the 100 block of Bert Horne Avenue.

There they found that Martinez, 38, and Leonardo Resendez, 37, reportedly had been attacked by a 16-year-old boy.

“The 16-year-old showed up at this home looking for some property that belongs to his father,” sheriff’s Sgt. Nathan Cato said. “Before he got to the home he picked up a wooden post .”

The teen then confronted people at that location, Cato said.

“He walked into the yard,” he said. “When he got into the yard he got into a confrontation with them and ended up hitting both of them with the wooden post.”

Martinez and Resendez defended themselves with their hands, leading to Resendez suffering a broken pinkie finger and Martinez receiving injuries to his right hand near his thumb, Cato said. Neither man was seriously injured in the attack.

The teen was charged with two counts of aggravated assault.
