CHATSWORTH, Ga. — A 7-year-old from Chatsworth died following a three-vehicle wreck in southern Murray County around 7:13 a.m. on Friday, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
Avery Lee Dotson was a passenger in a 2012 Nissan Versa driven by Amanda Marie Dotson, 42, which was stopped in the northbound lane of Highway 225 behind a 2013 Hyundai Elantra near Grand Prix Boulevard, according to a statement from a Georgia State Patrol public information officer. The Elantra was turning left onto Grand Prix Boulevard.
A 2002 Jeep Wrangler, driven by a 16-year-old male who was not identified in the statement, was traveling north and struck the rear of the Versa. The Versa traveled into the southbound lane and struck the left rear and left side of the Elantra before coming to a “final uncontrolled rest facing northwest on Grand Prix Boulevard and partially in the southbound lane” of Highway 225, according to the statement.
The Wrangler came to a rest in the northbound lane of Highway 225, and the Elantra came to a rest “facing southwest across both lanes of Grand Prix Boulevard,” according to the statement.
The public information officer said the report had not been finished and no other information was available.
