Abraham Baldwin hosts high schools at jazz festival

TIFTON — Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College’s Jazz Ensemble hosted an all-day jazz festival on campus on Apr. 18.

The festival featured performances by 11 high school jazz bands from around Georgia. Each band performed a selection of songs beginning at 10 a.m. and going throughout the day until around 4 p.m. The festival was free to attend for students and members of the community.

It is designed to “promote jazz performance and education,” as well as providing an “opportunity for students from across the region to meet and showcase their talents in a non-competitive atmosphere,” according to the festival’s webpage.

Bands representing Tift County, Colquitt County, Americus-Sumter, Lanier County, Thomas County Central, Valdosta, Lee County, Berrien County, Thomasville, Riverdale, and Hampton. The ABAC Jazz Choir also performed.
