No Small Matter

“No Small Matter,” a documentary about early childhood education, will be shown 1:30-4:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, at Willie B. Withers Civic Auditorium. “Through poignant stories and surprising humor, the film lays out the overwhelming evidence for the importance of the first five years and reveals how our failure to act on that evidence has resulted in an everyday crisis for American families and a slow-motion catastrophe for the country,” according to a flyer for the event. The showing is free and open to the public.

Usher anniversary

White Rock Baptist Church will celebrate its 72nd usher anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 21. The speaker will be Pastor Freddie Williams, and Union Baptist Church will be in charge of the service.
