When the victim went to the other man’s residence to confront him about the money, the other man came out of the house with a handgun; the victim ran as he was being shot at, the statement said.

Officers found the suspect and the handgun in the suspect’s home and he was taken into custody without incident, according to the statement. No one was reported injured.

Kahlil Williams, 20, of Valdosta is charged with robbery of an individual — street — strongarmed, aggravated assault non-family member — gun, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, altering ID on a weapon and convicted felon in possession of a firearm, according to police reports.

“If you are a victim of a crime, contact your local law enforcement and let them resolve the situation. This will help ensure you are not putting yourself in any unnecessary danger. We greatly appreciate the citizens that came forward and assisted our patrol officers in bringing this case to a quick conclusion,” VPD Lt. Scottie Johns said.
