THOMASVILLE — A man wanted in a counterfeit check case last week is now wanted in a home invasion in which money was taken, and a firearm was discharged.

About 11 p.m. Sunday, Quindarius Mitchell and another suspect committed a home invasion and armed robbery on Sanford Road, said Lt. Tim Watkins, Thomas County Sheriff’s Office chief investigator.

“The two suspects gained entry through an unlocked rear door of the residence. Once inside, they forced all of the residents into the living room and forced them to lie on the floor,” Watkins said.

Suspects demanded money from the victims, Watkins said, and followed one of the victims outside to retrieve money from his vehicle. 

“They took money out of his vehicle,” the investigator said.

A scuffle took place in the house when one of the four victims recognized Mitchell, according to authorities.

Watkins said the both suspects ran from the house, and 22-year-old Mitchell fired a shot while fleeing.

Officers went to a Thomasville residence where Mitchell was thought to live. He was not there.

Watkins said Mitchell was not at the residence last week when investigators wanted to question him about four counterfeit checks passed at Boston businesses.

Four arrests have been made in the bogus check case. Mitchell and two others remain at large. Watkins said they passed the bad checks in Thomas and Grady counties.

In the Sunday home invasion, warrants have been taken on Mitchell for armed robbery, aggravated assault, home invasion, kidnapping, possession of firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

A reward is being offered for information leading to Mitchell’s arrest.
