TIFTON — Tiftarea YMCA CEO Darian Peavy recently announced his resignation from his position, effective Oct. 31, according to a press release.
“I have been honored to be a representative for this organization, and I have a passion for its mission,” Peavy said in the release. “This was a very difficult decision for me; however, I believe it is in my best interest, and that of the organization.
“I will continue to assist in any way that I can to move the organization forward and will work to empower those who continue to serve its mission of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. I am blessed to have witnessed the many lives that have been positively impacted by the Tiftarea YMCA.”
Jason Bishoff, director of sports and programs, will serve as the interim CEO.
Peavy went on in the release to tout some of the recent accomplishments of the Tiftarea YMCA.
“For instance, in this past year, over 350 kids were challenged through our Youth Sports programs, another 500 were served in our summer Food for Thought program,” Peavy said. “More than 125 kids had a brighter Christmas because of our Y Christmas program and over 180 kids are at a reduced risk of drowning because of our Learn to Swim program…We touch the lives of thousands of kids and families every year at the Tiftarea YMCA through our various programs and that is just a small fraction of what we do.”
“Having worked with Darian for the past year and half, as a member of the board, I am saddened to see him leave,” said Tiftarea YMCA CVO Tyler Riddle. “I am however, very excited to know that while we search for a permanent CEO we are in capable hands with Mr. Bishoff. Jason is very energetic, and comes with extensive knowledge of Youth Sports programs, our Learn to Swim, summer Food for Thought, Livestrong and the rest of our Tiftarea YMCA programs.”
