In a press conference Monday, Maj. Gen. Antonio Aguto said the accident occurred around 3:30 a.m. Sunday during training of the 1st Armored Brigade of the 3rd Infantry Division.

“It is hard enough when you lose one soldier,” Aguto said in the press conference. “But when you lose three at one time, that pain is amplified. And we are really feeling and sharing that pain.”

No further details were provided about the incident, as an investigation is underway.

Two of the three injured soldiers have been treated and released from an Army hospital while a third remained hospitalized Monday although the injuries weren’t considered life-threatening.
