Colquitt County sheriff's deputies and Moultrie police officers coordinate in controlling traffic as both law enforcement agencies responded to an accident that left a woman with severe injuries just before noon Friday.

MOULTRIE, Ga. — Family and friends have identified the woman hit by a pickup truck in downtown Moultrie this afternoon as Lynn Purvis, Colquitt County clerk of courts.

Purvis was taken to Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville, not a Tallahassee hospital as the Georgia State Patrol initially said.

An Archbold spokesperson said about 4 p.m. Friday that Purvis was headed to the Intensive Care Unit.

2:25 p.m.

MOULTRIE, Ga. — A woman was hit by a vehicle just before noon Friday on First Avenue Southeast at South Main Street. She was knocked 20 feet away, Georgia State Post Commander John Vanlandingham said.

According to Vanlandingham, the driver, Yordanis Blanco Vincent, was traveling down South Main Street and took a left turn at First Avenue.

The woman was walking across First Avenue from the courthouse towards the Moultrie Pawn Shop when the front of Vincent’s truck struck her, knocking her back.

She was life-flighted to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital for trauma care treatment for her severe injuries. GSP didn’t release her name as they have not contacted her family.

Vanlandingham said they don’t suspect impairment on either side, but blood will be drawn from both parties as standard protocol for the situation.

Charges are also pending investigation.

“Right now, I’m not going to place charges on either party until I get the bigger picture of what’s going on,” he said.

GSP attempted to get a clearer picture via security camera footage from the Moultrie Pawn Shop, but little was gained. The footage only showed South Main Street and not First Avenue Southeast.

“They both had the go sign and just didn’t see each other,” Vanlandingham said. “So that’s where we’re at now.”
