Ceremony celebrates Moultrie’s original Masonic lodge

MOULTRIE, Ga. — The Moultrie-Colquitt County Chamber of Commerce recently held a ribbon cutting for the Masonic Lodge 381 F&AM at the site of the original lodge.

A plaque was placed in honor of the first lodge in the pocket park at the corner of First Street and Second Avenue Southeast. The Masonic Lodge 381 F&AM was established in Colquitt County in October of 1882.

The lodge now has about 100 members and the current officers are: WM Ron Benson, SW Wayne Smith, JW Tom Cox, Secretary Bobby Owens, Treasurer Fred Lasseter, and Chaplain Shelly Cook.

Their charitable efforts support the Masonic Children’s Home of Georgia, a residential childcare facility that provides housing and basic care to children in need. The home is located in Macon, Georgia.
