MOULTRIE, Ga. — Leaders from the Sunbelt Agricultural Expo recently presented a check to the Colquitt County High School Key Club for hard work at this year’s Expo.
“They provide a valuable service as they assist guests with directions to exhibits, on-site services, etc.,” Mary Beth Watson, vice president of accounting and administration for the Expo, said. “This is the third year Key Club operated the information booths for us. They generally use the donation to assist with service projects and to allow students to attend the Key Club Convention.”
Watson presented a check for $1,500 to Key Club, which is 40 members strong. All students in the photo volunteered in one of five information booths during the Expo. This year, Key Club members wanted to invest back into their community and set their sights on foster youth. Most of the funds will go to the Forgotten Initiative, a volunteer-based ministry whose mission is to support the foster care community through awareness, encouragement, and advocacy.
Key Club is part of the Kiwanis family and is an international service organization for high school students. It is a student-led organization whose goal is to encourage leadership through serving others, according to a press release from the Kiwanis Club of Moultrie.
