CHESS Academy wins, 62-53

TIFTON — CHESS Academy fended off a late run from Corinth (Fla.) Tuesday and held on for a 62-53 victory.
The Knights were ahead 30-24 at intermission and 49-33 at the end of third, Then, said head coach Jason Bishoff, “They made a run at us in the fourth quarter, but a full-court press and strong defense held them off.”
Seth Bishoff led the way for CHESS with 22 points, 11 in each half. Josh Hall added 18 points and Braxton Culpepper scored 12.
In B-team action, CHESS blasted Corinth, 42-19. Nearly every man on the CHESS roster scored, the top point totals going to Will Clark and Jeremiah Weyel, who each had 10.
CHESS was slated to play at Lighthouse Christian Thursday. They will be home tonight at Tifton’s First United Methodist Church against Byne Christian. The B-team gave is set for 5 p.m. The girls varsity team is to play at 6 p.m. with the boys to follow.
