THOMASVILLE — Midafternoon Thursday, police nabbed two siblings they were looking for, a brotherly duo expected to be charged with numerous residential and business burglaries.

Police were seeking Jadarius Dewante Cromartie, 29, and Levante Harry Cromartie, 17, both of 136 Dove Hill Circle, when the elder brother was found Thursday at Villa North apartments. He was arrested after police chased him.

The 17-year-old turned himself in at the Thomasville Police Department (TPD).

Another suspect, Maurice Lamar Griffin, 36, who is being held in the Thomas County Jail, is a suspect in burglaries as well, said Capt. Maurice Holmes, TPD Criminal Investigations Division commander. The suspect was found Wednesday living in an abandoned house on Pine Street.

“The Cromarties are going to be linked to several burglaries in the city,” Holmes said.

Among the business burglaries are several in which the same mode of operation was used: Attempts were made to disconnect power and alarms, keys were stolen, and entry was gained by force.

The Cromarties are suspects in an incident at an East Jackson Street automobile dealership in which a 2016 Ford Mustang was stolen. The car was recovered at Villa North apartments.

Holmes said the first attempt by the Cromarties to steal the car failed. They returned and were successful later, he added.

Another vehicle it is believed the pair stole from a dealership was found parked alongside the road at the 84 bypass and County Line Road intersection. Holmes said the vehicle, with doors open, was found near the brothers’ residence.

“They have a history of theft,” Holmes said in reference to the Cromarties. “They have been involved in criminal activity.”

It is important, the commander said, to keep the brothers in custody to give relief to business owners and homeowners throughout the city.
