Tift County Choral Department to host 2nd Annual Peach State Invitational

The Tift County Schools Choral Program held the first Peach State Show Choir Invitational this past weekend.

TIFTON — Cue the music and cue the lights. It’s that time of year again. 

The Tift County Choral Department will host its second annual Peach State Invitational show choir competition this weekend, according to a press release.

The invitational takes place March 9-10 at the TCHS Performing Arts Center.

This event allows fans of the music scene to enjoy award-winning performances from 29 different groups from all over the Southeastern United States.

The two-day event begins at 6 p.m. Friday night with the Middle School Division competition, featuring five different middle school show choirs and an exhibition performance by Tifton’s own Eighth Street Middle School One Voice show choir.

The competition continues on Saturday, beginning at 9:30 am.

Competition on Saturday includes groups competing in the Unisex Division, the Small Mixed Division, and the Championship Division.

In addition, all three local high school show choirs – Ninth Harmony, Ladies’ Choice, and Eighth Street Singing Company – will give exhibition performances. Belmont University’s Company will perform Saturday night.

Tickets for the event are $7 each for Friday night’s middle school competition, $10 each for Saturday’s all-day high school competition, and may be purchased at the door.
