LIVE OAK, Fla. — Law enforcement is investigating a 15-year-old student accused of poking Suwannee High School classmates with a needle.
According to Sheriff Sam St. John, the student was suspended Feb. 15 after posting photos of guns on social media, suggesting these would be the weapons he would use in a school shooting.

Those social media posts came immediately following the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla.
Following the suspension, the sheriff’s office received a report about the needle poking.
St. John said the investigation is still ongoing but the current results of the investigation have been turned over to the State Attorney’s Office.
The State Attorney’s office will decide whether there is enough evidence to press charges of simple battery and disruption of a school function against the student.
Superintendent Ted Roush said the school is conducting its own investigation as well.
“We take the safety of our students and the school staff extremely serious,” Roush said. “We will alway fully investigate any situation whether it be disciplinary or disciplinary and law enforcement related whenever we are made aware of potential issues of student safety.”

He added the disciplinary part of the investigation is ongoing and he expects a decision to be made the week after spring break.
