2 Colquitt Countians on Livestock Ambassador Team

- The livestock ambassador team was presented at the 2018 Georgia National Rodeo on Feb. 24. PERRY, Ga. — Two Colquitt Countians were among 10 young people named to the first Junior Livestock Ambassador Team for the Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter.
These young men and women will represent the Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter by serving a one year term showcasing the livestock and equine industry on-site and throughout Georgia. Each member of this team exhibits livestock projects throughout the various GNFA show seasons and will continue to develop their SAE projects as they advocate for the livestock industry, according to a press release from the agricenter.

The ambassadors include Cale Howington (Jackson County), Victoria Barber (Colquitt County), Gabe Roberts (Houston County), Taylor Barber (Decatur County), Levi Martin (Houston County), Payton Jackson (Banks County), Garrett Griner (Colquitt County), Courtney Conine (Mitchell County), Dawson Adams (Coffee County), and Kylie Whitworth (Madison County).
All applicants were asked to submit an application and supporting video. The final round of applicants also participated in an interview with GNFA officials. This is the first ambassador team to serve at the Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter, all of which will be present at the fairgrounds this year during multiple livestock, equine and commercial events.
This year’s ambassador team was presented at the 2018 Georgia National Rodeo Saturday, Feb. 24, during intermission.
“The Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter believe in promoting the agricultural achievements of Georgia’s young people throughout the state,” the release said, “and it is through the generosity of the agricultural community that we are able to do just that. The livestock ambassador team will have the opportunity to not only showcase the livestock and equine industry but will also have the chance to learn from some of the best in their respected fields. It is our goal to provide these young people with the chance to broaden their understanding of the vast agricultural industry, while networking with state leaders, agricultural officials and setting goals toward future educational and workforce decisions.”
