THOMASVILLE — A Thomasville man’s possession of two firearms recovered in a recent drug arrest could be investigated soon by a federal law enforcement agency.

Charlie Lee Earl Wilson Jr., 115 Felix St., was arrested March 22, said Louis Schofill, Thomas County/Thomasville Narcotics/Vice Division commander.

“A narcotics agent had developed information that he was selling drugs at his residence,” Schofill said.

A search warrant was executed at Wilson’s residence.

The search, Schofill said, produced “an amount of spice, or synthetic marijuana, and two guns.”

The first gun recovered was a sawed-off shotgun.

“That gun was cut too short,” Schofill said, referring to the length of the gun to be deemed illegal.

The second, a pistol, had its serial number filed down, according to the drug squad commander.

“That made that an illegal gun also,” Schofill added.

Wilson is facing numerous charges, including drug possession charges, possession of a firearm by convicted felon, and firearm use during commission of a crime.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is looking to take the case, according to Schofill.
