MOULTRIE, Ga. — Motorists driving Thursday on U.S. Highway 319 North may encounter a large number of police cars as officers train in operating speed detecting radar.

“These vehicles belong to students attending the Basic Radar Operator’s Course at the Moultrie Police Department,” Sgt. Michael Cox said. “These students will not be enforcing speeding violations; they are demonstrating they know how to set up, test and operate a speed detection radar device.”

The on-the-road training is a requirement of the basic radar course, Cox said.
