Peter Pan (Zach Brinson) checks on Tinkerbell (Victoria McDaniel) as Tiger Lily (Leena Viruet) looks on in the background in this scene from “Peter/Wendy.” The CCHS Drama Department will perform the play at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Withers Auditorium.

MOULTRIE, Ga. — The Colquitt County High School Drama Department invites the community to the Withers Auditorium on Friday, April 20, and Saturday, April 21, at 7 pm for its spring production of “Peter/Wendy” by Jeremy Bloom, adapted from J.M. Barrie’s “Peter and Wendy.” Tickets will be available at the door: adults $5, students $2.

In this lyrical, atmospheric interpretation of “Peter Pan,” Jeremy Bloom strips the familiar story down to its emotional essence. Peter lures Wendy away from her nursery to the magical world of Neverland, where she joins his adventures with Tinker Bell, Tiger Lily, and the menacing Captain Hook. A low-tech, inventive adaptation that pays homage to the darker themes of J.M. Barrie’s original, “Peter/Wendy” will mesmerize audiences of all ages.

Additionally, this production of “Peter/Wendy” is directed by senior student Jacob Eubanks. A regular actor in CCHS Drama plays, CCHS Choir musicals, and Colquitt County Art Center shows, Eubanks decided to take on the new challenge of directing a show before graduating; he approached drama teacher and program director Betsy Jones in Fall with his ideas about staging a student-directed production. “Peter/Wendy” hosts a variety of CCHS students on the stage and in the crew — some returning to the stage, others in their very first production.
