LIVE OAK, Fla. — The Suwannee High football team took to the field at Paul Langford Stadium on Saturday to compete in its annual Green and White scrimmage.

The Bulldogs went back and forth as the second-team offense faced the second-team defense and the first-team offense squared off with the defensive starters.

Quarterbacks Tyree Taylor and Jaquez Moore played multiple positions for the first-team offense. Both lined up at QB, running back and wide receiver, often playing together at the same time.

Taylor completed five of nine passes for 38 yards and rushed nine times for 25 yards. Moore went three of nine for 36 yards, carried 14 times for 56 yards and caught one pass for four yards.

SHS went with many different looks on offense, including some run-pass option plays as well as a no-huddle offense.

“We’re asking them to do a lot of things, move around to different positions. They’ve handled it well,” Bulldogs coach Kyler Hall said of Moore and Taylor. “They’ve been able to pick up what we’re trying to do as far as no-huddle, getting up to the line of scrimmage.”

Running back Carlton Hall, a rising senior who looks to be Suwannee’s No. 1 offensive option again in the fall, had a strong showing on Saturday. The two-year starter ran for 55 yards on 11 totes, including a 26-yard touchdown.

With Demarius Thompson gone as the backup running back, Robert Robinson saw some action behind Hall with both the first and second team. He had 16 carries. His longest runs went for six and five yards.

New addition Antonio White, a transfer from Winter Park, looked good in a Bulldogs uniform for the first time. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound wide receiver caught three passes for 38 yards. His longest reception went for 24 yards on a pass from Moore.

Suwannee’s offense was crisp at times Saturday. The defense also showed out with six tackles for losses and two interceptions.

“There was a lot of good, but a lot of glaring bad,” said Kyler Hall. “But that’s expected at this point. Big thing right now is a lot of learning on both sides. Nail down the assignments. We’re looking forward to game week.”
