TIFTON, Ga. — The Big Boi’s Birthday Comedy Show this Saturday has turned into a benefit show.

Jerriel Taylor and his fiancé, Courneya Moore, have been planning and organizing the show for months.

Then this past weekend, Moore had to be flown to Emory Hospital due to heart failure, according to Taylor.

“The show has gone from a comedy show to a benefit comedy show,” said comedian Steve Brown, one of the headliners for the show. “[Courneya] is very ill and hopefully we can raise some money to help.”

It’s especially important for Brown. After seeing him live, it was Moore’s idea to have him play the show.

“I think that this is one of those situations where you can turn a tragedy into a blessing,” said Brown. “The cause is bigger than us. We’re calling on the city of Tifton and surrounding areas to come out…and support what we’re trying to do for one of their own.”

Joining Brown will be comedians Marvin Dixon, D. Mack, Laquanda, Brian Tucker and Nakesha Melton-Green.

Taylor, who’s been spending part of the week in Atlanta at the hospital with Moore, plans to record the show.

“This was her brainchild,” said Taylor. “I’m going to keep it alive. And when she wakes up, I’m going to play it for her.”

Tickets for the show are available at Phlawless Barbershop, OneMain Financial, Lendmark Financial, Hair Slayers Salon & Boutique, 2000 Til Infinity, The Barber’s Club and Big Nick’s in Valdosta.
