CHULA — Tiftarea Academy’s opening softball game against Terrell Academy ended with a third victor Monday afternoon: Mother Nature.

Storms held up the contest after three innings of play. At that time, Tiftarea and Terrell had worked to a 5-5 draw.

Terrell scored a single run in the first, then added four more in the second.

The Lady Panthers quickly took the lead back from Terrell in a three-run bottom of the first inning. Elli Bryan hit a one-out triple, which was followed by an RBI double from Sara-Kate Lupo. Lupo, who stole third, came around on an error. Another error allowed Ali Strenth to score, giving Tiftarea a 3-1 lead.

After the tough second frame, Tiftarea knotted the score with a productive third inning.
