Family football game turns into fist fight; 2 cousins arrested

MOULTRIE, Ga. — A football game on Wednesday in Berlin turned violent when two teen-age first cousins exchanged blows, sending one to the hospital.
Police charged Trenton Weathers and Ethan Wade in the incident.

“They were having a family football game and got into a fist fight,” Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Chris Robinson said. “During the fist fight Mr. Weathers punched Mr. Wade in the face, causing him to have some broken bones that required surgery.”
Weathers, 18, 200 Langford St., Berlin, was charged with aggravated battery and affray, and Wade, 17, was charged with affray.

• Joseph Tyler Bengston, 28, 1264 Bay Rockyford Road, Hartsfield, was charged Wednesday with aggravated assault, cruelty to animals and theft by taking.
Bengston is accused of attacking Dennis Singleton with a golf club on Aug. 3 at Singleton’s residence in the 700 block of Sam Sells Road, Doerun.

Bengston is accused of the attack on Singleton after Singleton accused him of stealing property valued at $375. He’s also accused of striking Singleton’s dog during the incident.
• Randall Casey Coots, 30, 4405 Hempstead Church Road, Barney, was charged Wednesday with theft by taking.
Moultrie Police
• Carli Annette Hester, 27, 400 31st Ave. S.W., was charged Thursday with driving while license withdrawn.
• Charles Phillip Tallman, 25, 265 Ruth St., was charged Wednesday with loitering, disorderly conduct and duty to obey police officer.
Police said that video at Wal-Mart, 641 Veterans Parkway S. showed Tallman pulling on doors of cars.
A store employee called for assistance after Tallman walked inside the store, immediately walked outside and squatted on the sidewalk. When an officer tried to speak with Tallman he was “babbling” and could not keep his thoughts straight, and appeared to be under the influence of methamphetamine, police said.
When an officer tried to detain Tallman for investigation he pulled away from him and tried to get into a Ford Expedition with a relative, police said. Tallman also is accused of threatening to “punch (officer) in the face when he sees them out of uniform.”
• Gildardo Perez, 36, 1591 Hwy. 33 S., was charged Wednesday with driving without valid license.
• Claude Olen Lord III, 50, 6145 Tallokas Road, was charged Thursday with driving while license withdrawn.
