The suspect, Kelvin Russell, had argued with employee Dianna Johnson in the day, Moultrie Police Department Sgt. Vernon Nobles said.

“He left Taco Bell and he went back around 3:30 a.m.,” Nobles said. “He broke the door and went inside.”

Johnson ran into an office but Russell followed her, Nobles said.

“A physical altercation between him and her took place in the office,” he said. “During the altercation he hit her. She tried to leave the office but he wouldn’t let her.”

Eventually, Nobles said, Russell took money from Johnson’s pocketbook and he left.

After Moultrie police put out a description of Russell’s car, he was stopped by Omega Police Department officers as he was driving through the town. He was returned to Moultrie Saturday afternoon.

Russell, 34, 719  Collins St., Tifton, was charged with false imprisonment, burglary and battery (family violence).

He also faces charges in Omega of driving under the influence and obstruction of a police officer.

Russell was released from Colquitt County Jail on a $15,000 bond.
