Road markings become worn after time and the reflectivity on the surface diminishes. Refreshing is done for the safety of motorists. The contract amount is $276,612.

In Mitchell County, South East Mowing LLC is scheduled Oct. 4 to begin removing unwanted vegetation from the right of way of SR 97 from south of River Road to north of SR 112. The clearing is done to reclaim the right of way and reestablish a clear zone for driver safety. Single lane closures are permitted. The contract amount is $287,298.

These are Georgia Department of Transportation maintenance service contracts. Both must be completed in 120 days once work has started. Maintenance service contracts are funded by the Transportation Funding Act (TFA) of 2015.
