Mother Easter Baptist Church to honor pastor, first lady

MOULTRIE, Ga. — Mother Easter Baptist Church will honor its pastor and first lady, the Rev. Freddie L. and Mrs. Margie H. Castle, at a Pastor and Pastor’s Wife Appreciation Celebration at 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 21.
The Rev. J. Stephon Deen Sr. will be the guest speaker for the celebration.
Deen, the son of Deacon James Deen and Mrs. Laura Deen, was born and educated in Alma, Ga. Rev. Deen has held the pastoral position at The First African Baptist Church of Alma for the past 14 years. Deen currently holds the position of moderator for the St. John Missionary Baptist Association. He serves on the Bacon County Recreation Board and the Coastal Pines Adult Education Advisory Board.
Deen held the position of vice president for eight years with the GMBC of Georgia, District 11. He also held positions on the Bacon County High School and recreational coaching staff.
Deen is the father of five children and two grandchildren.
Dinner will be served immediately following Sunday’s appreciation celebration in the Emory H. Hopkins Fellowship Hall.
