Grandson charged in Colquitt County man’s death

BERLIN, Ga. — An autopsy is scheduled for today in the Friday stabbing death of an elderly man near Berlin.
The man’s grandson has been charged with murder.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested by the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office to help investigate the death of Billy Gene May, 78, the GBI said Monday.
The incident took place at 1845 Cannon Road, outside of Berlin.
Johnathan Weaver, 27, is charged with murder (felony and malice), two counts aggravated assault, possession of a firearm/knife during the commission of a crime, kidnapping, two counts of exploitation and intimidation of an elderly person, and simple battery. He is in the Colquitt County Jail.
The GBI said Weaver is alleged to have attacked and stabbed his grandfather repeatedly.
