New Mental Health Court has a meet and greet event
DALTON, Ga. — The Conasauga Mental Health Court has a meet and greet drop-in on Friday, Nov. 9, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Whitfield County Courthouse vending area, entry level floor. The public will have a chance to meet the court staff, ask questions and gather information about the newly established court that serves Murray and Whitfield counties. Refreshments will be provided. There will be a donation box set up in the vending area near the food tables for anyone who would like to donate items to the court. These items will be used as incentives for the participants. Wanted are small items that are easy to carry such as hygiene products, personal and household items, cleaning items, $5 gift cards, recreation items and candy.
CGTC and MGA sign articulation agreement for early childhood programs
WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — Qualified Early Childhood Care and Education program graduates from Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) are now eligible to transfer credit into select courses at Middle Georgia State University (MGA).
Under the new articulation agreement, qualified graduates from CGTC’s early childhood education associate’s degree program will be eligible to transfer major requirements as candidates entering the bachelor of science in education with a concentration in early childhood special Education at MGA.
General education courses outside of the early childhood concentration remain transferable to MGA for qualified candidates under an articulation agreement between the University System of Georgia (USG) and the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG).
Nominations open for Outstanding Georgia Young Peanut Farmer Award
TIFTON, Ga. — Nominations are now open for the Outstanding Georgia Young Peanut Farmer. The state winner will be announced at the Georgia Peanut Farm Show on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019, in Tifton, Georgia. The award is sponsored by the Georgia Peanut Commission and BASF. The Outstanding Georgia Young Peanut Farmer Award is based upon the applicant’s overall farm operation; environmental and stewardship practices; and leadership, civic, church, and community service activities. The award is open for any active Georgia peanut farmer who is not over 45 years of age, as of Jan. 17, 2019. An individual may receive the award only once. There is no limit on the number of applicants from each county in Georgia. Applications are due to the GPC office by Dec. 15, 2018. The award winner receives registration and hotel accommodations to attend the Southern Peanut Growers Conference, July 18-20, 2019, and a sign to display at his or her farm.
