KANSAS CITY, Mo.  — This Veterans Day, to honor its employees who are U.S. military veterans, National Beef Packing Company, LLC (National Beef) is pleased to make a $50 donation in honor of each to Mission 22, an organization working to end veteran suicide through awareness and treatment.

National Beef has a longstanding commitment to veterans support initiatives, according to a press release from the company. This year’s effort was proposed as a local effort by military veteran and general manager of National Beef’s Hummel’s Wharf, Pa. facility, Micah Miner.

“As someone who understands the need for a community army to rally behind veterans returning from service, I was excited to involve our local team in the cause,” said Miner. “It’s rewarding to see our local idea generate the support of the entire company.”

“From Kansas to Missouri, Georgia to Pennsylvania, we value the work of all our employees, but feel it’s important to recognize the additional sacrifices made by our veterans,” said Terry Wilkerson, executive vice president of operations for National Beef. “This is a small token of our great appreciation.”

“Mission 22 is appreciative of the support shown by National Beef,” said Diane McCall, public relations director for Mission 22. “The company’s generosity, in honor of its employees, will fund one year of post-traumatic stress treatment for a veteran in need. This is a life-saving gift.”

National Beef will also present its military veteran employees with a commemorative Mission 22 water bottle and $50 gift card to a restaurant in their community as a token of gratitude for their service to the country and commitment to National Beef.

Each day 22 veterans take their own life. Mission 22 aims to win the war against veteran suicide through awareness, treatment and support, National Beef’s press release said. More information is available at www.mission22.com.
