LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Crossroads Mission seeks your support
Published 2:55 pm Saturday, November 17, 2018
Crossroads Gospel Mission was chartered in 1972 with a dream to provide Christ-centered physical, mental and spiritual comfort to those in need – and Crossroads did just that for many years!
Today, in 2018, we are reinvesting in Crossroads to rekindle the dream and to help men who are at a “crossroads” in life find true direction and purpose in a living relationship with Jesus Christ. We want to offer hope, healing and restoration to the men the Lord sends us. We promise to mentor, disciple and help each man make a plan of action for their life. We understand the need these men will have for a safe place to stay, but we want to provide so much more for them than just that. Our program will match each man with a Life Coach that will help them not only become “job ready” but “life ready.” Each man will be required to seek employment and to submit to weekly accountability.
Crossroads Gospel Mission is a non-profit, non-denominational, Christian organization focused on building relationships, eliminating barriers, and helping men who have experienced brokenness find their way through the life-transforming power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to wholeness. Recently we have benefited from the gracious gifts of some of our community partners to completely renovate two of the six-person dorms and they look great! Please feel free sometime to stop by and look at them. The outside of our building has a new roof, new siding, and new signs that also look great. There are several more building upgrades that will be essential as we move forward but the funding is currently not sufficient yet.
Our dream for Crossroads Gospel Mission is that its growth would soon allow us to provide even more space for women and children that are equally in need and we believe the Lord will provide for that need in His time and His way. We do so much appreciate our community partners like United Way, several local churches, and other individuals, but what we desperately need RIGHT NOW is for the leadership of many more of our local churches to come on board to support us. Realizing that this is budget time for many of our churches we want to ask you, as church leaders and members, to prayerfully consider putting us in your local missions’ budget for next year, for whatever amount you can. I promise you we are being good stewards of what the Lord provides, holding our monthly operational expenses to less than $2,500. We are only receiving, however, about $1,500 a month — and that includes $1,000 monthly from the United Way.
We need your help, particularly the help of our local Christian churches!
Our Board Chair, Dr. Randy Benner, would be glad anytime to meet with your church leadership or visit a church service to help you understand how passionate we are about this vision and how much we believe the Lord is resurrecting the dream of 1972 in our day! We know how unique our community is to invest in ministries that help those in need and we believe you will help us fulfill the unique ministry He has given to Crossroads Gospel Mission.
