MOULTRIE, Ga. — The Georgia Department of Transportation has pushed back the planned completion of the final segment of Highway 133 between Moultrie and Valdosta.

In August, when the DOT announced the completion of the next-to-last segment, the agency said it expected the final part — 5.43 miles in Brooks County, including the city of Morven — to be finished in November.

Information on the DOT’s website now calls for that project to be finished April 2, 2019.

The website doesn’t specifically say the reason for the postponement, but such delays are usually attributed to weather. Among other things, Hurricane Michael brought rain and wind damage to the area Oct. 10.

In all, the DOT is working to four-lane State Route 133 from the Lowndes-Brooks county line into Dougherty County, a total of about 66 miles. The work has been divided into 10 projects.
