THOMASVILLE, Ga. — The body of a woman found in a Green Street ditch early Sunday will be sent to the GBI crime lab for an autopsy.

The body was found next to a culvert, said Maj. Wade Glover, Thomasville Police Department public information officer.

“It appears it’s a possible drowning on what we’ve gathered at this time,” Glover said, adding that the body was discovered after a heavy downpour.

The body, which was found about 12:10 a.m., had no signs of trauma.

The identity of the woman is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
