Vehicle theft leads to accident, arrest

VALDOSTA — A Valdosta man was arrested Saturday after a vehicle theft led to an accident, according to police.
At 7:43 a.m., officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle theft by force in the 1800 block of West Hill Avenue, according to a Valdosta Police Department report, which refers to the incident as “robbery of an individual-street-gun.”
After driving the wrong way on a one-way street, the suspect hit another vehicle, then fled the scene, the report states.
Authorities arrested a suspect.
Joshua Washington, 30, of Valdosta, is charged with theft other, theft by taking (stolen motor vehicle all other) and other traffic violations, according to the report.
Reported taken during the incident were a gray 2017 Nissan Rogue, two cell phones and a wallet, according to the report.
