MOULTRIE, Ga. — A man’s nicotine addiction caused a Wednesday afternoon argument that turned physical in the 4500 block of Old Adel Road.

Heather Marshall reported that a male companion woke her from a nap at about 4 p.m. and asked her for $10 that he knew about. He told her that he wanted it to buy some cigarettes.

When Marshall refused, she told police, the man threw her to the ground, slammed her leg in the door and left with her cell phone. Her 7-year-old daughter and 4-year-old son were in the house at the time.

The man identified by Marshall was not there when police arrived.

• Frank James Williams, 50, 317 10th St. S.E., was charged Thursday with theft by shoplifting.

Police arrested Williams after Rite Aid, 305 Sixth St. S.E., reported that Williams concealed a set of earphones valued at $25 in his back pocket.

When an employee confronted Williams about the earphones he offered to pay for them but did not have money to buy them, police said.

• Bylon Carlden Gilliam, 22, 190 Berry Hill Lane, Tyrone, Ga., was charged Thursday with possession of marijuana.

• Tarsell Lanette West, 44, 614 Third Ave. S.W., was charged Wednesday with driving with suspended tag, driving while license withdrawn and no insurance.

• Toney Dewayne Striplin, 224 Lakeside Drive, was charged Wednesday with failure to appear and probation violation.

• Tommy Michael Phagans, 44, 155 Mill St., was charged Wednesday with driving while license withdrawn.

• J.W. J.J. Gilbert, 33, 7488 Old Hwy. 3, Baconton, was charged Wednesday with speeding — 15 miles or over speed limit and driving while license withdrawn.

• Pedro Jaralillo Don Juan, 35, 2205 Sylvester Drive, was charged Wednesday with speeding and driving without license.

• Timothy Wayne Bradley, 32, 3769 Doerun-Norman Park Road, was charged Wednesday with following too closely and driving while license withdrawn.

• Monica Evita Edwards, 35, 1738 Gatewood Circle, was charged Wednesday with driving with suspended license.

• Dexter Dewan Williams, 26, 2306 Hwy. 133 S., was charged Friday with driving without license, two counts theft by taking and five counts theft by deception.

• Melissa Conner, 29, 279 Tallokas Road, was charged Wednesday  with failure to appear.

Georgia Department of Transportation

• Emory Edward Rix, 47, 558 N. Hwy. 19, Glenwood, Ga., was charged Wednesday with driving under the influence, failure to drive within single lane and commercial vehicle driver qualifying violation.

Robbery

• William Green, 700 block Third Avenue Southeast, reported Thursday that he was robbed of property valued at $13.

Green told police that his assailant did not have a weapon.

Burglary

• Police responding to an alarm at the 1900 S. Main St. Packer’s Mart found a door window shattered.

After officers searched the building for anyone inside a store employee told police that merchandise valued at $100 had been taken.

Thefts

• John Cummings, 100 block Elham Road, reported Thursday the theft of a 28-foot pull-behind camper of unlisted value.

• Isabel Martinez, 1700 block Tift County Line Road, reported Thursday the theft of two bags of horse feed and tools from the cab of a Ford Ranger in her back yard.

Martinez told police the other stolen property included a Craftsman cordless drill along with the charger and batteries for the tool. She estimated the value of the stolen property at $120.

Disorderly conduct

Moultrie Police

• Yvette Green, 100 block Seventh Street Southwest, reported Thursday that when she returned home from work in the morning she found her belongings in the garbage can and a pile beside the road.

She told police that the man, who was not there at the time, earlier had filed a false report that she had taken his property but that he later returned to the residence with it.

About 12 hours later police responded to a report of an argument at the residence. The man agreed to leave the residence.

• Diane Mims reported Thursday finding a broken window and door open at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 4212 Cool Springs Road.

Mims told police that when she arrived to clean the building she found a window broken at the rear of the church meeting hall and a side door unlocked.

Church members did not report anything stolen, police said.

• Colquitt Electrical Membership Corp. reported that a power line reported out on Wednesday had equipment tracks nearby.

A company employee told police that the tracks appeared to be those of an excavator.

The officer saw the tracks and the piece of road equipment at the bottom of a nearby field.
