Rants and Raves

Downright mean: “In response: That little episode with Rush Limbaugh mocking Michael J. Fox when Fox was testifying on behalf of Parkinsons victims really made me angry. I have a family member who has very serious tremors, so much so that he can barely function. For someone in the national spotlight to make light of such afflictions is indeed rude, crude and socially unacceptable. As your editorial said, ‘downright mean.’
Those churches
“I have noticed around the community that little store-front type churches pop up for a while and then they are gone. It makes me wonder sometimes if our existing churches (which are many) are not meeting the spiritual needs of some people. Just something to think about.
Obesity
“Obesity can be just as bad as smoking. It can lead to diabetes, heart issues as well as physical disabilities such as bad knees and joints. I agree that there should be both a national and local initiative in this regard on the level of anti-tobacco usage.
My experience
“With reference to the obesity comments: I talked to an acquaintance who is rather obese. I’m concerned about his health. He told me ‘when it’s my time, it’s my time.’ Well with that kind of attitude I will apply my energies and concern elsewhere.
Meryl Streep
“I agree with Donald Trump. Meryl Streep is overrated as an actress.
His legacy
“Tommy Hall’s legacy is that he poured his heart into educating our children. His efforts are representative of many teachers in our local schools. Again I maintain that education is readily available to all of our children if they have a desire to learn and behave themselves.
Tailgated
“I agree about the traffic on West Boulevard. I have been tailgated more on that road than anywhere else in the county.
Observation
“Recently someone noted how much deer traffic we have on West Boulevard. On Monday morning, I saw a deer come out on that street near the waste water treatment plant. It crossed over and went down that stream that flows into the Ochlocknee River as though it were coming downtown. Yes, be careful on that route especially at night and when it’s foggy.
Guns on campus
“People carrying guns on campus. Wow! That’s just what we need. So I’m wondering just how many people on campus even know how to use a handgun. Furthermore, has there been a public outcry from professors and students for this to be allowed, or is this just outside opportunists putting forth their agenda? I would like to hear from teachers and students on this matter. Not from politicians.
