CAIRO, Ga. — Recreation activities at Tired Creek Lake soon could not be the only offering once the project is complete.
The Grady County Board of Commissioners discussed the prospect of hog trapping at Tired Creek Lake at Tuesday’s meeting.
Chairman Elwyn Childs said a constituent approached him and wanted to use land out at Tired Creek for hog trapping.
Vice Chairman Ray Prince said he had four to five constituents also ask, adding that if the trapping is open to one constituent, it would have to be fair to others interested.
“You can open up a can of worms,” he said.
County Attorney Kevin Cauley suggested different approaches the board could take regarding the issue, such as opening up the opportunity to see the outcome and to publicly advertise.
Former commissioner Charlie Norton was in attendance for the meeting and offered insight, such as possibly isolating the north and west sides of the lake.
Commissioner T.D. David motioned for Tired Creek Lake Manager Mike Binion to craft a policy regarding hog trapping at the lake. Commissioner LaFaye Copeland seconded.
The policy motion, which passed unanimously, was suggested to include a time for hog trapping and land designation.
Other action taken at meeting:
•approval of software invoice of $8,212 for Grady County’s Sheriff’s Office and Probate Court office
•approval of submitting Community Block Development Grant application for Johnson Road, Pine Lakes Drive, and Pine Hill Lakes Drive drainage and road improvements
