Moultrie man hurt in robbery

MOULTRIE, Ga. — A Moultrie man was treated and released from Colquitt Regional Medical Center Monday following a robbery the previous evening.
Moultrie police responded to the 500 block of Fourth Street Northwest about 5 a.m. Monday. Eddie Burden was transported from there by Colquitt Regional EMS, police said.
The investigation report indicated Burden was beaten and robbed around 8:30 p.m. in the vicinity of the 400 block of Second Street Northwest, but when a police officer walked that area, he didn’t see any indications of the attack.
“[Burden] was not forthcoming as to the exact area where he was assaulted,” the report said.
Police said $80 was taken from Burden during the incident.

• Jamad N. Flournoy, 17, 6496 Old Adel Road, was charged March 7 with simple battery.
• Jennifer Cross, 44, 11026 Highway 112, Doerun, was charged Wednesday with three counts of deposit account fraud.
Moultrie Police
• Carolyn Denise Edwards, 44, 512 Fifth St. S.W., was charged with two counts of simple battery and two counts of felony exploitation of an elderly person.
The incident occurred Thursday, March 16 at PruittHealth Magnolia Manor, 3003 Veterans Parkway South, police said, but the police report was dated Tuesday, March 21.
An official of PruittHealth Magnolia Manor declined to comment, citing both the active police investigation and health care privacy laws.
• Marcus Duval Gibson, 20, of Sylvester, was charged Wednesday with driving while license withdrawn and no insurance.
• Chad Tremaine Daniels, 37, 1708 First Ave. S.E., was charged Dec. 24 with theft by taking, battery and fugitive from justice. Daniels’ information was released Thursday by the Colquitt County Jail.
• Dequin Marquise Harris, 26, 717 Third Ave. S.W., was charged March 14 with battery (family violence) and aggravated stalking.
• Travis Sheffield, 32, 412-F 31st Ave. S.E., was charged Dec. 20 with possession of marijuana and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. Sheffield’s information was released Thursday by the Colquitt County Jail.
• Penny Scharden Wiard, 20, 453 Ellis May Road, was charged Dec. 26 with DUI, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, possession of a drug-related object, driving without license on person and adult seat belt violation. Wiard’s information was released Thursday by the Colquitt County Jail.

Thefts

• Cole Summerlin, 1000 block Summerlin Road, told deputies Wednesday someone took a 35-quart Yeti cooler valued at $350 off a Mule parked in his front yard over the previous night.
• A representative of Colquitt EMC reported Tuesday that someone at a residence on Bill Tillman Road had used electricity without paying for it over a lengthy period of time. The cost of the stolen electricity was $2,242.
Moultrie Police
• Murphy’s Express, 505 Veterans Parkway South, reported a woman shoplifting about 1:15 a.m. Tuesday. Merchandise valued at $22 was taken.
• Two thefts were reported Monday at a residence in the 200 block of Seventh Street Southwest. Police were very short on details about both.
Tammy Terrell Tyler reported electronics of unknown value were stolen from her 1996 Ford Explorer.
Thomas Lee Tyler reported a theft of unidentified items valued at $200. At one point, the police report indicated it was a burglary, while at another it indicated an automobile had been entered.
Both incidents happened between 5 p.m. March 17 and 4:49 p.m. March 20.
• Amanda Nicole Brooks, 1700 block Fourth Street Southeast, reported Monday that someone stole her purse from her car the previous night. The purse contained her driver’s license, Social Security card and two debit cards.
One of the debit cards was used at an ATM, police said. Brooks and the officer were able to view a video from the ATM transaction, and she was able to identify the person using her card.
• The City of Moultrie reported Monday that an electric meter was disconnected from an apartment on Ninth Street Southwest and installed at an apartment on Fourth Street Southwest. The city employee said the meter on Fourth Street was turned off Friday but service was illegally restored the next day.
• Jazema Sparrow, of Moultrie, reported she left her phone at the Best Little Store in Georgia, 619 W. Central Ave., Sunday. When she went back a few minutes later, it was gone. A clerk told the officer a woman with a group of three other women picked up the phone, which was valued at $170.
• Ke’she’monia Daniels reported Friday that her front door was broken in when she came home from work. Missing were a 60-inch flat-screen television, PlayStation 4 with seven games, and the main box to an RCA stereo system. Altogether, the items were valued at $1,560.

• Natasha Latriece Anderson, 1500 block Fourth Avenue Northeast, reported a case of identity theft Monday.
• Dan Jones, of Byron, Ga., reported Friday that he was a victim of financial transaction card fraud.

• An official with the city Public Works Department reported Monday that a person has repeatedly driven a four-wheeler all over the Woodmen of the World Park, Fifth Street at Fourth Avenue Southwest. The official said he has confronted the man in the past about damage to the grass, but he doesn’t know the man’s name.
