CCHS dominates welding contest

Colquitt County High School welding teacher Chris Naquin was presented with the 2016 Georgia/Florida Championship Welding Trophy by representatives of Tulsa Welding School.

Colquitt County High School hosted a welding competition Feb. 10. Fifty-four students from eight area high schools competed. The competition was sponsored by Tulsa Welding School, Lincoln Electric, Miller Airgas and Jones Welding and Industrial Supply.

Students who placed in the top five: 5th, Kenneth Chason, Cairo High School; 4th, Joseph Bullington, Lee County; 3rd, Friancisco Martin-Hernandez, CCHS; 2nd, Jesus Rodriguez, CCHS; 1st, Victor Clleto, CCHS. Tulsa Welding School gave a full scholarship to the first place winner and partial ones to the second and third places.
