MOULTRIE – The Colquitt County seventh-grade boys basketball team’s season came to an end on Thursday with a 43-42 loss to Coffee Middle School in the conference semifinals.
Kaden Span led the way for the Packers with 12 points. Cade Calhoun had three 3-pointers for nine points.
Cameron Williams added seven; Jaheim Flanders had five; and Robert “RJ” Aldridge and Tyrell Wright each had two.
The seventh-grade Packers finished the season 13-4.
Coach Nigel Spencer said the team improved as players and as student-athletes over the course of the season.
“They played their hearts out,” Spencer said. “I’m very proud of this group. It’s amazing to see a group of 11-13-year-olds play 17 games in in three months and only lose four.
“They’re a different group of kids. They are mentally tough with the urge to learn more and more about the game of basketball. It’s safe to say that the future is very bright for Packer basketball.”
