Three middle school swimmers take four gold medals in Tifton

MOULTRIE – Three Colquitt County middle school swimmers turned in four first-place finishes in the Dec. 10 meet in Tifton.
Allie Mobley won the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke events for the girls team.
For the boys, Daylen Peebles was first in the 200-yard freestyle and Maddux Simmons won the 100-yard freestyle.
The first-place finishes helped lead Colquitt County to a third-place overall finish.
Tift County won the event and was followed by Coffee Middle School.
Valdosta Middle School was fourth and Providence School of Tifton was fifth.
Mobley turned in a time of 1:04.54 to win the freestyle event. Her 1:18.61 earned her the gold medal in the backstroke.
Peebles won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:31.68.
Simmons’s time in the 100-yard butterfly win was 1:16.39.
Peebles and Jax Hart each had silver-medal performances.
Peebles was the runner-up in the 100-yard backstroke. Hart was second in the 100-yard freestyle.
Four Colquitt County relay teams also had second-place finishes.
The 200-yard medley relay team of Maisie Ford, Veronika Brace, Mobley and Reese Medders earned a silver medal as did the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Brace, Reese Clifton, Maryalyce McCall and Mobley.
The boys earned second place in the 200-yard medley relay with Peebles, Jason Valega, Simmons and Hart competing.
The runner-up boys 200-yard freestyle relay team included Hart, Peebles, Simmons and Valega.
The Colquitt County girls’ 400-yard freestyle relay team of Emma Bailey, Ford, Christie Conn and Clifton took the bronze medal.
Also taking third-place finishes for Colquitt County were Brace, in the 100-yard freestyle; Medders, in the 200-yard freestyle; Hart, in the 50-yard freestyle; Simmons, in the 100-yard freestyle; and Fletcher Krout, in the 500-yard freestyle.
Also taking top-8 finishes for Colquitt County were Medders, eighth, 100-yard freestyle; Ford, sixth, 50-yard freestyle; Clifton, fifth, 100-yard freestyle; Valega, sixth in the 50-yard freestyle and seventh in the 100-yard freestyle; and Krout, sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Also competing for Colquitt County were Adalyn Land, Cohin Land and Rylan Smith.
