CCHS media specialist receives regional honor

MOULTRIE, Ga. — Cheryl Youse, media specialist at Colquitt County High School, is a finalist in the Georgia Library Media Specialist of the Year competition.
Youse, named District Library Media Specialist of the Year for Southwest Georgia, will compete against eight of her colleagues for the state award, which will be announced during the Georgia Library Media Association’s 2017 Summer Institute, to be held June 12-13 at the Wyndham Resort in Peachtree City.
Other honorees include:
• Sonya Bigbie, West Chatham Elementary (Coastal Georgia).
• Beverly Brostek, Glynn Middle School (Southeast Georgia).
• Karen Garner, Couch Middle School (Metro District).
• Jennifer Gibson, Chestatee High School (North Georgia).
• Martha Maness, Aaron Cohn Middle School (West Central Georgia).
• Anne Nechvatal, Cherokee High School (North Central Georgia).
• Linda Sermons, J.L. Lomax Elementary School (South Central Georgia).
• Kathy Thompson, Woodland High (South Metro District).
The Georgia Library Media Association (GLMA) is a statewide professional organization dedicated to the empowerment of Georgia’s school library media specialists and to quality education in Georgia’s schools. GLMA is the state affiliate of the American Association of School Libraries (AASL) and a division of the American Library Association (ALA).
